Helped bring TBD to market and support a $3M raise, without a full-time design team

TBD is an internet-native platform for collecting real, global insights through verified polls and surveys. Built on Worldcoin, it enables businesses, governments, and nonprofits to gather trustworthy input from respondents around the world quickly, accurately, and at scale.

I joined as an embedded senior design partner to help shape the product experience at a critical stage. By giving the team senior design coverage without requiring a full-time hire, I helped them move faster, sharpen the product, and support a successful $3M raise.

Working with Chalk felt like having a co-founder who happens to be a world-class designer. Dan took early product ideas and turned them into polished designs that enabled us ship confidently and raise.

The pivot from Ego

TBD started as Ego, a market for people. Public figures became Stars you could claim, follow, and buy, with a price that moved with attention. The company then pivoted, away from that market and into verified polls and surveys. That product is what raised $3M.

I designed through the pivot. The brand and the product were one exploration: a wordmark and app icon on a shifting gradient, an Ego Score for how relevant a Star was, and the market, profile, and buy flow around them.

I explored gradient textures as a heat map for how relevant a person was. The color was a read on a Star, the same idea Ego Score put into a number.

Ego Score was a read on how relevant a Star was. It moved with real-world achievements and online influence, and stood in for what a Star was worth.

Stars were people you could claim, follow, and buy. Every row carried a score, a price, and how many people held it.
